The can survive long at low temperatures, but is relatively uunstable outside the hostanimal. Incubation period is approx: 1 week.
The clinical symptoms of puppydisease can vary from light, ospecified signs on disease to serious urgent disease with meningitis and high deathrate. Puppydiseasevirus reduces the animals immunedefense, since the virus creates himself in the lymphatical system. Mild symptoms on puppydisease can be increased temperature, less apetite, vomiting and diarrhoea. Frequently disappears these symptoms in order to later recur.

At the development of the secondary sufferings there can be pneumonia and inflammation in the eyes conjunctiva. The dog gets a damp cough and flow from nose and eyes. Some dogs affects of urgent meningitis that brings cramps and bad coordinationcapacity, eventually paralysis. On surviving dogs you can risks permanently degraded sight and sense of smell and other neurological damages.

How is it diagnosed?

On typical cases it can frequently be diagnosed on the clinical symptomes, but the diagnosis is wished frequently confirming with a laboratoryexamination. In atypical cases as mild infections and in cronical cases can the clinical diagnosis be difficult to confirm. Furthermore can the laboratorydiagnosis be unsure in these cases.

How is puppydisease treated?

The treatment of puppydisease consists in combating the secondary affections with help of antibiotica, both general and localy, since they can not treat the actual disease. Puppydisease can affect dogs in all ages but it is seen often at young, unvaccinated dogs or dogs that does not have sufficient immunity through vaccination. The puppydiseasevirus is a airborne viruse and the disease is very contagious. Infections in Sweden is occasionly very low, but especially in Finland they have experienced a vigorous increase of puppydisease in the latest years.

Because should you do thoroughly clean and disinfect rooms where dogs with puppydisease, or suspected puppydisease, have reside himself. It's however not impossible that be shure on a overall extermination of viruses in the groupe, since infected dogs can excrete viruses in several months. That is why the importantly to vaccinate.

WHAT IS CONTAGIOUS LIVER DISEASE (HCC)?

The cause to the disease is a virus that above all assaults blood vessel and livercells. The disease displays himself through increased temperature, loss of appetite, vomiting and in generally a bloody diarrhoea. On behalf of damages on the liver and blood vessels it can frequently be seen bleedings in skin and on mucous membranes. In the urgent course it can also be seen ophthalmia and nose-bleeding.
At puppys the disease can pass very fast with death within a few days. At adults dogs happens usually a spontaneous recovery after 5-10 day. Beneath this period it can arise a obscurense of the eyes cornea, that been coloured milky white. This condition disappears often after 3-4 days, but it can hold himself in several weeks. The treatment of HCC is general surveying with lokal therapy of ophthalmia.
HCC-virus is not airborne but it secretes by urin and faeces(excretion). Secretion of viruses can happen many months after the recovery. The dog is infected through contact with urin or faeces from infected animals.

How shall i protect my dog against HCC?

HCC-virus is a virus that can survive several months in the environment. It's fairly resistent against disinfectant with exception of the chlorinous, but it's sensitive for heat. All dogs should be vaccinated against contagious liverdisease (HCC).

Can people be contaged with HCC?

No, the virus is specifik for dog and does not contage neither people or other animals.

KENNEL COUGH:

Kennelcough ca affect all dogs. It is caused by a virus (parainfluensavirus) the disease is
very contageus. Dogs infect other dogs by direkt contact. As the name says it hits most often
kennels, doghomes, exibitions and racetracks. Puppies and older dogs with lower resistence can
catch following diseases as pnumoia. The virusinfection can not be treated. In generaly the symptoms
dissapear atfer 1-2 weeks. Any approved vaccin against kennelcough does not exist in Sweden.
The incubations time is 8-10 days before the dog shows any symptons.

The symptons are:

- razzling dry intens cough, from 1 to several weeks
-sour trought, wometing reflexes
- fever, running nose
- affected general status

The parainfluensavirus is specific for the dog and do not infect man or other animals.

HOW ARE THE VACCINES USED?

Puppydiseasevaccines and contagious liverdisease(HCC) is included in several vaccines in Nobi-vac series:
# Puppydisease and parvovirus (Nobi-vac Puppy DP)
# Puppydisease and contagious liverdisease (Nobi-vac DH2)
# Puppydisease, contagious liverdisease and parvovirus (Nobi-vac DHP)
# Puppydisease, contagious liverdisease, parvovirus and kennelcough (Nobi-vac DHPPi)

All vaccines is used first time latest when the puppy is 12 weeks. Vaccination against puppydisease and contagious liverdisease is made at least every 2 year. Vaccination against parvovirus is made each year. Nobi-vac DHPPi is used however each year in order to give maximum protection.

Nobi-vac Puppy DP is used in kennels or in instead for the parvovirusvaccin, when the puppy is 6-8 weeks. Then they receives an early protection against both parvovirus and puppydisease.

Why does it exists vaccinated dogs that yet becomes ill?

There exists several reasons for that a vaccin never can work to 100%. Despite that Nobi-vac vaccines gives a maximum protection there will always exist dogs that simply not is in rank that constitute sufficient amount antibodys- they are immunological incompetent. If the dog is vaccinated in the incubation period can disease break out, because it takes up to 14 days before a enough protection have been formed.

Extended, slack esophagus(oesofagusdilatation):

The symtoms are that the esophagus in its entire length or in its lower part is sacky extension and lacks abilit that actively transport the food down to the stomack. The symtoms is distinguishing and notises when the puppies begins eat firm food. The genuine pankreasatrofin can occasionally successfully treatments with accession of enzymes in shape of tablets, but it takes a lifelong treatment. Strong indications on heredity exist. Other intestinediseases with alike symptoms can have different reasons and thereby more difficult to diagnose and treat.
